Director Penelope Spheeris Accuses Jennifer Aniston of 'Humiliating' Gift
Filmmaker claims the actress gave her a bedazzled sex toy on the set of 'Five' in 2011.
Director Penelope Spheeris has publicly accused actress Jennifer Aniston of gifting her a bedazzled sex toy with the intent to "humiliate" her. Spheeris, 80, made the claim during a recent appearance on the "Moynihan Report" podcast, recounting an incident from 2011.
Spheeris stated that the gift, a dildo adorned with rhinestones, was presented to her by an assistant director on the set of the Lifetime anthology film "Five." While she initially believed the gesture was kind, she was taken aback to discover the nature of the gift in front of the entire crew. "There [was] a f–king dildo in there in front of the whole crew. I’m supposed to open up a dildo?" Spheeris recalled. She described the present as "mean-spirited."
Despite the gift box reportedly coming from a producer, Spheeris believes the item originated from Aniston. She cited a subsequent event in 2012, when she was nominated for a Directors Guild Award. Aniston reportedly arrived with a similar gift box, which Spheeris quipped might contain "another dildo." Aniston clarified it was a present for producer Marta Kauffman, but Spheeris noted it was the same type of box, which she asserts were Aniston's signature gift boxes.
Aniston and Spheeris both directed segments for "Five," a film that centered on the impact of breast cancer. Other directors for the project included Alicia Keys, Demi Moore, and Patty Jenkins. Aniston had stated at the time that her goal for the project was to be "informative without being heavy-handed."
