Issy Knopfler, daughter of Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler, has announced her engagement to actor Sam Buchanan. The couple, who met while working together on the fantasy TV series "The Wayfinders," shared their joyful news on Instagram on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
Buchanan, 29, proposed to Knopfler, 28, during a romantic getaway. Their engagement announcement included a series of photos capturing their smiles and showcasing Knopfler's diamond engagement ring. The celebration continued with a romantic dinner where they shared a tiramisu dessert inscribed with the word "engaged."
Buchanan is also known for his role as Fitzy in the BBC soap opera "EastEnders." His character was part of a storyline involving knife crime in 2021.
Issy Knopfler has previously appeared in television shows such as "Silent Witness" and "Before We Die."
