Diego Pavia Aims for UFL Comeback After NFL Stint
Former Heisman Trophy runner-up Diego Pavia, released by the Baltimore Ravens, plans to join the United Football League in 2027.
Controversial former Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia is planning a return to professional football with the United Football League (UFL) in 2027.
Pavia, who finished second in Heisman Trophy voting, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent. However, he was released by the team during training camp this past summer and has not yet joined an NFL practice squad.
On Tuesday, Pavia announced his intention to continue his playing career in the UFL. "My agent (Malki Kawa) and the UFL are currently in negotiations to make this happen!" Pavia posted on X. "Whatever team I end up at, I can promise you one thing - You will get everything I got."
Mike Repole, a prominent owner in the UFL and founder of VitaminWater, expressed enthusiasm for Pavia joining the league. "Diego, we would LOVE to welcome you to the UFL!!!!!" Repole responded to Pavia's post. "I promise you one thing, we will challenge you, push you to reach your highest potential, and help you chase your biggest dreams!!!!"
During the 2025 college football season, Pavia was a standout quarterback, throwing for 3,359 yards and rushing for 862 yards, accounting for 39 combined touchdowns. His college career also included time at the New Mexico Military Institute and New Mexico State.
Despite his collegiate success, Pavia's NFL prospects were impacted by his stature and his reaction to losing the Heisman Trophy, which contributed to teams' hesitations in signing the 24-year-old.
