Sean "Diddy" Combs's prison release date has been changed once more, with his projected exit from Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), Fort Dix in New Jersey now scheduled for February 20, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. This latest adjustment follows a reported brawl with another inmate, an incident that reportedly led to Combs being placed in solitary confinement.

The hip-hop mogul, 56, has seen his release date fluctuate multiple times since he began serving a 50-month sentence following his conviction on two prostitution charges in October 2025. Initially slated for release in the summer, the date has been revised numerous times, including shifts to April, February, and most recently, January, before this latest alteration.

The specific reasons for the most recent change have not been publicly disclosed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In response to inquiries, a representative stated, "For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, including release plans or specifics regarding why a release date changes."

News of the revised release date emerged shortly after reports surfaced of an altercation at FCI Fort Dix. Sources cited by TMZ indicated that Combs initiated a physical confrontation after being insulted by another inmate. The dispute reportedly escalated from pushing to punches before guards intervened and separated the individuals. Combs was subsequently placed in solitary confinement.

Representatives for Combs have denied allegations of misconduct, including a previous report of consuming a fermented beverage and making unauthorized phone calls. A statement released on his behalf asserted, "His only focus is becoming the best version of himself and returning to his family." Another spokesperson told the Daily Mail that Combs "has not violated any prison rules" and is prioritizing his sobriety and self-discipline.

Combs's sentence stems from a conviction on charges of transportation to engage in prostitution. Although he was acquitted of more serious charges such as sex trafficking and racketeering after a high-profile trial, the lesser charges resulted in his incarceration. His original sentence was scheduled to end on May 8, 2028, but was later impacted by the FIRST STEP Act, a prison reform law that has facilitated early releases for many individuals. The date continued to be adjusted until the most recent changes.

During Combs's trial, graphic testimony was presented by his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, alleging a history of abuse. The sentencing judge cited the "savage" abuse and the "irreparable harm" to victims, emphasizing the need for deterrence in imposing the sentence.
