Diane Keaton's Daughter Marks One-Year Anniversary of Actress's Death

Diane Keaton's daughter, Dexter Keaton White, honored the one-year anniversary of the acclaimed actress's death with a poignant tribute on Instagram. Keaton passed away at the age of 79 following a battle with bacterial pneumonia.

Dexter, 30, posted a black-and-white photograph of herself with her mother from Dexter's 2021 wedding to Jordan White. "One year without you, mom," Dexter wrote in the caption. "It somehow feels like yesterday and forever ago all at once. I’m still trying to get used to a world where I can’t call you, have you there for a hug, or go on adventures with you."

She added that the "everyday moments" serve as constant reminders of how much she wishes her mother were still present. Dexter concluded the emotional post with, "I love you and I miss you. Always."

Keaton, known for her iconic roles in films such as "Annie Hall," "The Godfather," and "The First Wives Club," adopted Dexter in 1996 and her son Duke in 2001. Dexter has shared several online memorials for her mother in the year since her passing.

In May, Dexter posted a series of photos commemorating her late parent on Mother's Day. "First Mother’s Day without you," Dexter wrote at the time. "I miss you more than words can say. Missing her voice, her hugs, her presence, and everything that made her home. I love you, Mom."

Earlier this year, Dexter marked what would have been Keaton's 80th birthday by posting a photo of them together by the ocean, writing, "I miss you, mom." The post also featured an image of a tattoo Dexter received after her mother's death.

In a 2014 Mother's Day Instagram post, Dexter praised Keaton as "a strong, beautiful, and talented woman." "I couldn't thank you enough for everything you've done for me. I love you!"

Keaton herself spoke about motherhood in a 2008 interview with Ladies' Home Journal, stating she never felt fully prepared but that it was a long-considered decision. "It was more like a thought I'd been thinking for a very long time. So I plunged in."

Keaton's distinguished career spanned decades, earning critical acclaim and multiple accolades. Her performance in the 1977 film "Annie Hall" earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress and remains a landmark achievement in film history. She received additional Oscar nominations for her work in "Reds" (1981), "Marvin’s Room" (1996), and "Something’s Gotta Give" (2003). Notable films also include "Baby Boom" (1987), "The First Wives Club" (1996), and the "Father of the Bride" movies (1991, 1995).
