DHS Secretary Claims 2,210 Terrorists Apprehended Under Trump Administration

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin stated that 2,210 terrorists were apprehended under the Trump administration's approach to illegal immigration and border security. Mullin told the "Ruthless Podcast" that President Donald Trump shifted border security from a defensive stance to an offensive one, aggressively pursuing individuals nationwide.

Mullin indicated that these individuals were classified as terrorists, differentiating them from those on a general watch list. "These were terrorists," he asserted during the interview released Thursday.

He contrasted this with the current administration's policies, stating that under the Biden administration, 97% of individuals encountered by DHS were released within 27 hours. Mullin said that under Trump, the administration was "no longer just playing defense" and had been given the authority to "go on the offensive."

Earlier this month, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that it had detained 2,150 known or suspected terrorists prior to the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

Mullin, who previously served in the House before being elected to the Senate and then nominated by President Trump to lead DHS in March, described his workload as intense. "I haven't slept through the night in six months," he said.
