DHS Responds to Hayley Williams' Anti-ICE Remarks at Concert

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has responded to Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams' anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) remarks made during a solo concert in Chula Vista, California. Williams shouted "F--- ICE!" and "Free motherf------ Palestine!" during her performance on Saturday night, prompting the DHS to defend its officers.

A DHS spokesperson stated on Sunday, "America is grateful all the time for our federal law enforcement officers who keep us safe. We suggest Ms. Williams to thank them for their service, not belittle their sacrifice."

Williams incorporated these political statements into her live rendition of her solo track "Ice in My OJ." She has made similar remarks, including criticism of former President Donald Trump and his agenda, during previous performances on her current tour.

In 2024, during Paramore's performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, Williams warned concertgoers about Trump's presidential campaign, calling it a "playbook for controlling and punishing women, poor people, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community" and urged attendees to vote against him.

Williams' latest comments come amid a reported increase in assaults against ICE personnel. According to DHS data, there were 647 assaults against ICE personnel between January 20, 2025, and September 20, 2026. This represents a 1,649% increase compared to the 37 assaults recorded during the corresponding period from January 20, 2021, to September 20, 2022.

Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin stated that federal immigration officers face increased danger while enforcing laws. "The brave men and women of ICE, who are simply enforcing the laws mandated by Congress and protecting the American people, are under attack every single day," Mullin said. "Since President Trump unleashed ICE to do their jobs, assaults against them have risen by more than 1,600% in the first year and a half of the administration."
