DHS Directs Removal of DeepSeek AI Technology from Federal Systems
Department of Homeland Security cites national security concerns in barring AI products developed by Chinese firm.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has ordered federal civilian agencies to remove all artificial intelligence technologies developed by the Chinese company DeepSeek, citing national security risks. This directive also prohibits any future procurement of DeepSeek's products and services.
The order extends to any products created by DeepSeek affiliates and third-party solutions that incorporate the company's AI implementations. The DHS has not publicly detailed the specific national security concerns that led to this decision.
DeepSeek, founded in 2020, is known for its large language models and AI research. The company has developed several AI models, including DeepSeek-Coder, which is designed for code generation and programming assistance, and DeepSeek-VLM, a vision-language model.
