Dez Bryant Cited for Assault After Parking Lot Altercation

Former NFL star Dez Bryant was issued a citation for assault by contact following a parking lot altercation in Southlake, Texas, on Sunday. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. after Bryant confronted 19-year-old Noah Reyes and his friend, Terrance Avery, accusing them of street racing near his vehicle.

Video footage obtained by the California Post shows Bryant, 37, arguing with Reyes and Avery. At one point, Bryant can be seen slapping Reyes' phone out of his hand after the teenager began recording the encounter. "I'm not playing with you," Bryant is heard saying in the video.

Bryant then picked up the phone and threw it to the ground, despite pleas from Avery. The former Dallas Cowboys receiver continued to yell at Reyes, at one point saying, "I'll break you down, n—a. Don't give a f—k about none of that." He also stated that he did not care about the law.

Law enforcement arrived on the scene after receiving multiple calls about an altercation involving several individuals and a possible weapon. According to a Southlake Police Department spokesperson, officers drew their firearms as a precaution due to the initial information. Several individuals were temporarily detained, but no firearms were recovered.

The police statement indicated that the dispute began as a traffic incident, with Bryant reporting that he was cut off by another motorist. The argument escalated when both parties entered the parking lot, leading to the alleged assault. Following their investigation, police issued Bryant a citation for Assault by Contact, a Class C misdemeanor, and he was released at the scene.

Reyes has stated that he sustained a hand injury and intends to sue Bryant. Bryant, however, told Outkick that he was acting in self-defense. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 20 to address the citation.
