Dez Bryant Accused of Assaulting Teenager in Road Rage Incident

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant faces accusations of assaulting a 19-year-old man in a parking lot in Southlake, Texas, on Sunday. The incident, which a teenager claims involved Bryant punching him, damaging his phone, and threatening his life, led to Bryant receiving a citation for assault by contact.

According to Noah Reyes, the 19-year-old involved, the confrontation began when Bryant became upset about the teenagers honking at him. Reyes told the New York Post that Bryant then allegedly issued threats as they parked next to him in a lot. "You better not park that car and get out or I'll stomp your face into this pavement," Reyes recounted Bryant saying.

Reyes stated that when he reached into his car, Bryant mistook the action for him reaching for a firearm. "He accused me of trying to get a gun," Reyes said. "He thought I was going in my car to get a gun."

Bryant then allegedly approached Reyes, demanding he come over and repeating threats. "He was like come over here. He was like, 'You over here threatening me? You threatening me?' He was like, 'You going to die today. I'ma shoot you. I'ma kill you. You're not going to live to see another day,'" Reyes told the Post.

During the altercation, Reyes attempted to record Bryant with his phone. Reyes claims Bryant knocked the phone from his hand, shattering its screen saver. He also stated that Bryant punched him in the hand, causing a bruise.

Law enforcement officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of an altercation involving multiple individuals and a possible weapon. According to a Southlake PD representative, officers drew their firearms as a precaution upon arrival to ensure safety. Several individuals were temporarily detained for the investigation, though no firearms were recovered.

Bryant, who was handcuffed and cited by police, admitted to knocking the phone out of Reyes' hand. He told police that the teenagers had cut him off on the road. Bryant also stated that officers pointed guns at him and the teenagers in front of his daughters.

"I get on the ground," Bryant told Outkick.com. "My lady pulled up, she got my children, and they seen everything that's going on." He expressed feeling the situation was "very one-sided."

Reyes and his friend Terrance Avery are reportedly seeking a public apology and Reyes intends to sue Bryant. Bryant is due back in court on November 20.
