The Detroit Lions have released Terrion Arnold, their 2024 first-round draft pick, following his arrest on felony charges. Arnold was arrested and charged with four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred in February.
Arnold's bond was set at $1 million by Hillsborough County Judge Christopher Sabella. Conditions of his bond include no contact with six co-defendants and witnesses, surrendering his passport within 48 hours, and remaining confined to his home in Tallahassee, Florida, except for football-related activities or court appearances. Prosecutors had sought for Arnold to be held without bond, but the judge did not find sufficient grounds for that measure.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Arnold turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday night. Investigators allege that the incident involved three male victims, all in their late teens, who were reportedly battered, held at gunpoint, and pistol-whipped before being robbed. The victims allegedly suffered visible injuries.
Investigators claim that Arnold rented an Airbnb in Largo, Florida, where he and several co-defendants allegedly planned and coordinated the events. The allegations suggest that Arnold suspected the victims of stealing personal items from the Airbnb. Authorities stated that Arnold and some co-defendants later reported over $250,000 in stolen property to the Largo Police Department.
Further investigation by authorities alleges that Arnold and another co-defendant coordinated to lure one of the victims to an apartment, where two other individuals were waiting. The victims reportedly arrived to meet women, but instead encountered the alleged assailants who held them at gunpoint and assaulted them. Investigators also stated that one of the women streamed the incident to Arnold and others who were en route to the apartment. Evidence gathered reportedly includes communications in a group chat where Arnold and others allegedly provided directions during the assault.
Authorities believe Arnold was the primary organizer of the alleged scheme. Arnold was expected to be a significant contributor to the Lions' defense this season. In his rookie year in 2024, he played in 16 games, recording 10 passes defended and 60 combined tackles before a shoulder injury ended his season. He also had his first career interception in Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings.
