A detective with North Wales Police has appeared in court facing charges of upskirting a child, an offense involving taking photographs beneath clothing without consent. Detective Constable Lee Harshey-Jones, 45, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday but did not enter a plea. The alleged incident involving a teenage girl occurred in Colwyn Bay in June, leading to Harshey-Jones' suspension from duty.
Under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, operating equipment beneath clothing without consent is a criminal offense. Harshey-Jones, from Rhos-on-Sea, Conwy county, was released on conditional bail. A provisional trial date has been set for August 16, 2027, with his next court appearance scheduled for September 30.
In his role as a detective, Harshey-Jones was a lead investigator in the 2025 death of two-year-old Ethan Ives-Griffiths, whose grandparents were subsequently jailed for murder in connection with the child's death.
