Details Emerge in Tragic Death of Chad Lowe's Daughter Fiona

New details have surfaced regarding the death of Fiona Lowe, the 13-year-old daughter of actor Chad Lowe. According to the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner, Fiona passed away in a hospital on Tuesday, September 29. The circumstances surrounding her death are still under investigation, with the case status marked as open.
Representatives for the Lowe family have not yet responded to requests for comment. The family announced Fiona's passing in a statement released Tuesday, expressing their profound grief.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the statement read. “She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters, and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.” The family described her death as “devastating” and requested “prayers and privacy at this time.” They also shared resources for mental health support, advising those in need to contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Fiona is the daughter of Chad Lowe and his wife, producer Kim Painter. The couple also has two other daughters, Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. Chad Lowe is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe.
Schools in Fiona's middle school district were informed of a student's death via an email from the principal on Tuesday morning. The email, obtained by Page Six, did not name the student but offered condolences to the family, friends, and teachers, and noted that counselors would be available to provide emotional support to students and staff.
Chad Lowe's last public acknowledgment of Fiona on Instagram was in November 2025, celebrating her 13th birthday. He shared a photo of her smiling and captioned it, “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”.
In January 2025, the Lowe-Painter family home was destroyed in the Palisades Fire. Following that event, Chad Lowe spoke about his daughters' resilience, stating, “The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
