Designer Anticipates Fashion Frenzy from "Claudia Winkleman Effect" on Celebrity Traitors
Scottish designer Judy R. Clark prepares for increased demand as TV presenter Claudia Winkleman's distinctive style on "Celebrity Traitors" captures audience attention.
Scottish designer Judy R. Clark is bracing for a significant surge in demand for her creations following their prominent appearance on the BBC program "Celebrity Traitors." The presenter Claudia Winkleman's signature blend of tartan, chunky knits, tweed capes, and fingerless gloves has resonated with viewers, with nine million tuning into the episode that featured Clark's designs.
Among the featured pieces were a charcoal knitted tank-top and a puff-sleeved jumper. These items were personally delivered to the show's production, with staff adhering to strict confidentiality until the episode aired.
Clark expressed her excitement, calling it an "iconic moment" to see her work worn by Winkleman. She noted Winkleman's "unique sense of style and a confidence in her fashion choices that people genuinely connect with." More of Clark's designs are slated to be worn by Winkleman, 54, throughout the current series, with the presenter hinting at additional "big fashion moments" to come.
The collaboration, spearheaded by Winkleman's stylist Sinead McKeefry, has focused on showcasing British designers while complementing the vintage and gothic aesthetic of the show, which is filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands. This partnership marks a significant opportunity for Clark, who has previously dressed notable musicians such as Courtney Love, Annie Lennox, and KT Tunstall.
Winkleman has also incorporated pieces from other established brands, including Vivienne Westwood, Barbour, and Brora, into her "Celebrity Traitors" wardrobe. In promotional shots for the season, she wore vintage tartan trousers from Vivienne Westwood, a coat from the Scottish brand SKYE by Brora, and Bottega Veneta boots, accessorized with her characteristic fingerless gloves. For a subsequent episode, Winkleman opted for a Barbour jacket paired with black trousers, maintaining her distinctive style.
Winkleman has described her personal style on the show as a mix of "human crow meets golf caddie meets the Artful Dodger," a look curated by McKeefry. In the previous season, Winkleman's attire included a Burberry check pleated skirt and a matching fringed sweater.
