“Daily Show” correspondent Desi Lydic recently critiqued former President Donald Trump’s rally performance in Georgia, suggesting a decline in his typical crowd-engaging abilities.
During a rally for U.S. Senate candidate Mike Collins, Lydic observed that Trump, at 80 years old, appeared to be losing some of his signature showmanship. She presented a montage of rally attendees who seemed disengaged, with some appearing bored and others focused on their phones.
"After 10 years of Trump rallies, you can kinda tell that he’s not moving crowds like he used to,” Lydic stated. She pointed to instances where attendees were not looking at the former president while he was speaking.
Lydic humorously suggested that Trump might need to resort to his former tactic of creating catchy nicknames for political opponents, such as “Sleepy Joe Biden” or “Crooked Hillary,” to regain audience attention.
Adding to her critique, Lydic commented on Trump’s description of a healthcare plan. When Trump announced, “We will pass the Great Healthcare Plan. It’s called our Great Healthcare Plan. That’s the name of it,” Lydic responded with sarcasm, “Wow, thanks for putting in all that thought. Such a lazy name. That’s like making a daily show and calling it ‘The Daily Show.’”
