Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson revealed he became emotional and "teary-eyed" upon hearing fans chant his name during a recent comeback victory against the Carolina Panthers. This moment signifies a notable shift in fan sentiment after Watson had previously been booed off the field during the preseason.

Watson acknowledged the significance of the crowd's support, stating, "It's amazing. It's great. I just wanted to finish the job for them." He elaborated on the feeling, "You know, just feeling that energy. I put so much work to get back here. To be in this moment here, to be able to show that I can finish these drives, finish these games, and get W's for the city, for this organization."

The quarterback's tenure with the Browns has been marked by significant challenges, including injuries and an 11-game NFL suspension in 2022 stemming from accusations of sexual assault and inappropriate conduct. He also carries a substantial $230 million contract and has faced criticism for his performance and availability since his blockbuster trade from Houston four years ago. Watson has been sidelined by a season-ending shoulder injury in 2023 and a ruptured Achilles tendon in 2024.
