Denver Suburb Crowned America's Hottest ZIP Code

Aurora, Colorado's 80019 ZIP code, located near Denver International Airport, has become the most popular destination for movers in the United States, according to MovingPlace’s September Hottest ZIP Codes report. This ranking is based on the number of new residents a ZIP code attracts relative to its population size, using data from 890,131 moves logged in August.

Daniel Cobb, senior editor at MovingPlace, stated that the leading ZIP codes are characterized by either significant new housing development or a consistent influx of people relocating for employment opportunities. "The new September Hottest ZIP Codes Report indicates that the strongest moving activity in the last month is tied to places where there’s either a lot of new housing being built or a steady pipeline of people relocating for work," Cobb told The Post.

Aurora's 80019 ZIP code, known as "The Gateway to the Rockies," climbed from a tie for eighth place to the top spot. This growth is attributed to new housing developments like Painted Prairie and High Point, which are attracting buyers priced out of closer-in Denver neighborhoods. The typical home value in this ZIP code is $529,300, with a median household income of $129,154. Cobb noted that the area's proximity to the airport and lower land costs have contributed to more affordable rents and new home prices compared to other parts of the Denver metropolitan area.

Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, a U.S. Army installation, secured the second position for the second consecutive month. Cobb explained that this ranking is primarily influenced by military relocations, rather than a lifestyle choice by residents. "Kansas tells a completely different story," Cobb said. "Fort Leavenworth is heavily influenced by military moves, so its appearance near the top of the ranking isn’t necessarily about people choosing Kansas as a lifestyle destination, but likely more to do with the influx of service members and their families."

Florida featured prominently, with three ZIP codes making the top 10. Port Saint Lucie's 34987 ZIP code ranked third, driven by the Tradition development, a popular area for retirees and remote workers relocating from the Northeast. Homes in this area have a median value of $430,100.

Inlet Beach, a community on Florida's Panhandle near Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach, came in fourth. With a median home value of $947,700, it is the most expensive ZIP code on the list. Its reappearance in the rankings suggests a strong market for vacation homes among wealthy buyers.

Rounding out Florida's presence is Bradenton's 34211 ZIP code, encompassing the Lakewood Ranch area. This location ranked sixth, with new construction continuing to fuel demand and homes valued at $601,300.

Texas also had two ZIP codes in the top 10, both in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Lavon, a town near Lake Lavon, ranked fifth. Justin, a community in Denton County, secured the ninth spot, marking its first appearance in the top 10 in recent months.

Other notable entries include Richmond, Virginia's 23230, which fell to seventh after leading the rankings in July. Downtown Hartford, Connecticut's 06103, debuted at eighth, boosted by office-to-apartment conversions. Nashville's 37203, covering Midtown and Music Row, took the tenth spot, attracting young professionals with new rental towers.

Several ZIP codes that were in the top 10 the previous month, including Richmond's 23219, El Paso's 79908, and Nashville's 37228, did not maintain their positions.
