Actor Dennis Quaid, 72, has found a more relaxed lifestyle in Nashville, Tennessee, after relocating from Los Angeles in 2020 with his wife, Laura Savoie, 33. Quaid described his current life as "soft" and emphasized a strong sense of community in his new home.
"Basically I play golf," Quaid told People in a recent interview. "I love to be around the house here. You get a lot of land and space, but you’re still in an urban environment. I’ve made some really good friends here to spend time with. It’s important and a great place to raise a family."
He also commented on Nashville's cultural landscape, noting that while it is known as the home of country music, its offerings extend beyond that genre. "It’s not a one-horse town," Quaid said. "It’s not just music, although, like 75 percent of all music in the United States, no matter what genre it is either, not just country, is done right here in Nashville."
Quaid also reflected on his former home, Los Angeles, which he said has been "kind of going downhill" in recent years. "It used to be such a great town and the '90s was nice," he shared, adding that he feels residents "pay these taxes for no services."
He expressed a hope for Los Angeles's resurgence, stating, "I really do. It used to be such a fantastic town. It was. It was a great community, too. And something’s happened. People need to be inspired there."
Earlier this year, Quaid was in the news regarding child support payments for his 18-year-old twins, Thomas and Zoe, with ex-wife Kimberly Buffington. He sought to terminate the $13,750 monthly payments, citing a 2018 divorce agreement stipulating the payments would end after their children completed 12th grade.
