Dennis Haskins, ‘Saved by the Bell’ Principal, Dies at 75

Dennis Haskins, the actor widely recognized for his portrayal of Principal Richard Belding in the hit sitcom "Saved by the Bell," has died. He was 75.

Haskins' representative confirmed his death to Fox News Digital, stating, "It’s a tragic loss. Everyone loved Mr. Belding and those of us who got to know Dennis loved him even more. He was a great person, and he loved, I mean absolutely LOVED his fans. He always had time for them, no matter what. He was my client and dear friend for over 20 years, and I will miss him terribly. I’m heartbroken."

The cause of Haskins' death is not yet known.

Haskins was born on November 18, 1950, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He became a memorable figure in the "Saved by the Bell" franchise, playing the often-frustrated Principal Belding as he managed the antics of Zack Morris, played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar, and his classmates at Bayside High.

He first embodied the character on the Disney Channel series "Good Morning, Miss Bliss," which was later adapted into "Saved by the Bell." Haskins continued his role as Belding throughout the original series and reprised it for "Saved by the Bell: The New Class," extending his tenure as the beloved principal for over a decade.

Haskins' portrayal of Mr. Belding, with his characteristic "Hey, hey, hey!" catchphrase, became a signature element of the show.

His career also included appearances on other television shows such as "The Dukes of Hazzard," "The West Wing," "7th Heaven," "Mad Men," "New Girl," "Hot in Cleveland," and "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia."

Haskins is survived by his son, Dustin.
