Democrats are poised to issue a wave of subpoenas targeting Donald Trump and his allies as soon as their new House majority is sworn in this January, according to White House correspondent Jon Michael Raasch.
The party's expected control of Congress will empower them to initiate investigations and schedule hearings, with Trump himself identified as the "number one" priority.
Raasch, speaking on the Daily Mail's Deep Dive podcast, indicated that the investigations could extend to anyone with a connection to the Trump administration who may have entered into agreements with the White House. He specifically mentioned tech companies that have supported Trump's ventures, such as Meta, and individuals like Jared Kushner, who has navigated diplomatic roles while managing a private equity firm backed by Gulf money. Neither Meta nor Kushner have been accused of wrongdoing.
Another area of focus for the incoming majority is expected to be the Epstein files, with Democrats aiming to ascertain if additional documents exist and if any cover-ups have occurred.
"The subpoenas are supposed to fly on day one," Raasch stated, citing a well-placed Democratic source on Capitol Hill. "Congressional committees are now going to be controlled by Democrats. Those Democrats then get to say exactly what's going to happen."
The podcast also discussed potential future political figures. Raasch highlighted Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff, who recently won re-election, as a Democrat to watch for the 2028 presidential race. Raasch described Ossoff as a young politician with a strong public image who has actively challenged Trump.
"He knows how to strike at the President and how to get him riled up," Raasch observed. He added that Ossoff's base in Georgia, a crucial battleground state, further enhances his political standing.
