Delta Air Lines pilots have introduced a new website, Delta Pilots Care, designed to inform passengers about potential flight delays and cancellations, a move intended to preemptively address customer frustration during the busy summer travel season. The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), representing Delta pilots, launched the site to provide an up-close operational perspective, according to Airline Geeks.

The website, which will be updated throughout the summer, features a "smart traveler playbook" offering advice for smoother airport experiences, along with links to resources such as passenger rights information and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidance. It also includes tips like booking early morning flights and utilizing the Fly Delta app.

"We have been working on our days off in record numbers to help you get to your destination," the website states. "We empathize and share in your frustration over the delays, cancellations, and disrupted travel plans you experienced. We agree; it is unacceptable."

Captain Eric Criswell, Chairman of the Delta MEC, highlighted the pilots' unique vantage point as frontline leaders in observing the airline's operations. The initiative comes as airlines prepare for a surge in summer travel, a period often marked by disruptions.

In addition to the travel advisory website, Delta has recently expanded its fare options with the introduction of "Basic fares" for first class and business class. These fares offer an economy-like seat with select premium amenities, such as Zone 1 boarding, lie-flat seats, and three-course meals. However, passengers opting for these basic fares will not have access to Delta Sky Clubs without a separate membership or eligible credit card. They will also earn fewer frequent flyer miles and are ineligible for complimentary upgrades.

"This expansion gives customers more ways to choose the Delta experience that best fits their trip, and a new way to access our premium tier products," said Joe Esposito, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, in a press release.
