Delta Goodrem to Appear on The Voice UK Amidst Strictly Injury Hiatus
Australian singer Delta Goodrem, sidelined from Strictly Come Dancing due to a broken rib, will guest coach on rival ITV show The Voice UK.
Delta Goodrem will not compete on Strictly Come Dancing this weekend after sustaining a rib fracture during rehearsals. The Australian singer and songwriter, 41, is set to appear on ITV's The Voice UK as a guest coach.
Goodrem will join Kelly Rowland to mentor contestants during The Battles round of the competition, filmed at Alexandra Palace in London. She will also be seen alongside host Emma Willis, who fronts both BBC's Strictly and ITV's The Voice UK.
The scenes featuring Goodrem and Rowland were prerecorded last year. Goodrem expressed her enthusiasm for participating, stating, "I am so honoured and so excited to be a part of Team Kelly today - let's go! Not only have we worked together on The Voice Australia, but we share together very high standards. We are expecting the best."
During one performance, Goodrem and Rowland were seen dancing together, a moment captured in exclusive photographs. Despite her current injury, Goodrem was photographed appearing healthy while stepping out in a burgundy bomber jacket, top, and skirt.
This appearance comes after the BBC confirmed earlier this week that Goodrem and her professional partner Kai Widdrington would miss Saturday's Strictly episode due to her injury. They will receive a bye to the following week, a decision that has disappointed fans of the BBC show. Goodrem had previously led the leaderboard for two consecutive weeks, even performing a Salsa last week while managing the pain.
Following the live broadcast last week, Goodrem sought hospital treatment for her pain, which made sleeping difficult. Doctors have advised her to rest and sleep in an upright position to aid her recovery. She is scheduled to meet with BBC producers next Monday to determine her fitness to return to the Strictly competition. The show's rules allow contestants only one bye before they must withdraw.
Goodrem, a seven-time studio album artist, has had a busy year, having represented Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest in May, where she secured fourth place with her song "Eclipse." ITV has recently adjusted The Voice UK's broadcast schedule to avoid direct competition with Strictly.
Willis, who hosts both flagship Saturday night shows, has been recognized for her dual role, appearing on-air for nearly four hours each weekend across the BBC and ITV. Last month, Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon were announced as successors to Willis's final episodes as host.
