Delta Goodrem Returns to Strictly Dancefloor After Rib Injury

Strictly Come Dancing fans shared their delight as Delta Goodrem made a triumphant return to the dancefloor on Saturday night. The singer, 41, had been ordered to rest by doctors and received a pass through to the next round after a rib injury left her unable to train the previous week.

As week five commenced, the Australian star and her partner Kai Widdrington, 31, performed a Rumba to Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back To Me." Host Johannes Radebe offered the couple a "warm welcome back" following their absence.

Viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, to express their happiness at Goodrem's return. Comments included "WELCOME BACK DELTA GOODREM!", "It's great to see Delta back," and "Delta is back and gorgeous as ever."

Goodrem, who was theSydney-born star, managed to perform a Salsa during week three, topping the leaderboard for the second consecutive week. However, hours after the live broadcast, she was taken to the hospital due to pain that made sleeping difficult.

Doctors advised Goodrem to rest and sleep upright to aid her recovery. Strictly Come Dancing rules permit contestants one free pass before they must withdraw from the competition.

Earlier in the day, Goodrem shared a video on Instagram detailing the extent of her injury. The footage began with her in the hospital the Sunday after her injury, describing the pain as "very painful" and feeling "a little nauseous." By Monday, she explained, "They explained that it is fracturing my rib, which I feel very, very gutted about." She expressed hope to return the following week and thanked fans for their support.

A clip from Tuesday showed Goodrem in tears, but subsequent days featured her appearing happier as she began walking and reuniting with Widdrington. The video concluded with clips of the pair training again, with Goodrem telling fans she was "so happy to be back."

In her Instagram caption, Goodrem wrote, "I filmed little moments over the past two weeks to remind myself that even on the frustrating days, there would be progress." She added, "I was gutted when the injury happened as I've been truly loving this experience so much. It's hard to be patient when you want to be full force again but I've been listening, taking things carefully and learning to appreciate the small steps!"

She concluded by expressing gratitude for being able to dance again and sent a message of solidarity to others facing their own battles, stating, "To all my warriors out there in your own battles i see you and am with you – we are fighters! #Teamdeltakai will see you tonight."
