Delta Denies Claims of Passengers Voting on Urine-Soaked Plane

Delta Air Lines has refuted a widely circulated social media claim that its passengers were given a choice between flying on a plane that smelled of dog urine or enduring a significant delay for cleaning.

The dispute stems from a video posted on Instagram by Jennifer Coffey, a former QVC host, who alleged that a pilot at LaGuardia Airport asked passengers to raise their hands to vote on whether to depart on time with the odor or wait for the aircraft to be cleaned.

In the video, which has garnered over 10 million views, passengers appear to be raising their hands while a person identified as a pilot speaks. Coffey stated in her post that the pilot announced a dog had urinated on the plane during a previous flight.

However, a Delta spokesperson told the Daily Mail that the airline has found no evidence to support Coffey's account. The spokesperson described the situation as a "maintenance delay" involving the replacement of an air filter, which they characterized as a common occurrence.

The airline representative suggested that the terminal's noise and activity could make the audio in the video unreliable and could not corroborate the narrative of a dog urinating on the plane.

"A customer could say, raise your hand if 'insert question' here and anyone would raise their hand," the spokesperson commented, suggesting an alternative explanation for the hand-raising visible in the video. "I'll let you draw your own conclusions."

Coffey specified in her post that she was not a passenger on the flight in question.

Delta stated that passengers booked on Flight 2806 were eventually transferred to a different aircraft for their journey from New York to Chicago, as another plane was available.

The Delta spokesperson said that if a dog urinated on a plane, crew members would clean it to their satisfaction, adding there would be no reason for a tally, saying, ‘not a policy I ever heard of’

According to Delta's spokesperson, if an animal had urinated on a plane, standard procedure would involve thorough cleaning by the crew, and there would be no need for a passenger vote. "Not a policy I ever heard of," the spokesperson added.

A Delta spokesperson shut down a claim made by a social media influencer about passengers voting to delay their flight from an Airport so the plane could be cleaned after a dog peed in it, or to spend hours smelling the stench

The Daily Mail has reached out to Jennifer Coffey for further comment regarding Delta's response.
