Delta, Air Canada Jets Collide on LAX Tarmac; No Injuries Reported
A Delta Air Lines aircraft clipped an Air Canada plane while taxiing, prompting an investigation by the FAA.
Two passenger jets made contact on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday, with officials reporting no injuries.
A Delta Air Lines Airbus A350-900, scheduled for departure to Tokyo, struck an Air Canada passenger jet with its left wingtip, according to a Delta spokesperson. The Delta aircraft was taxiing at the time of the incident.
"While taxiing at Los Angeles International Airport, a Delta aircraft made contact with an Air Canada aircraft," a Delta statement said. "Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people, and we apologize to our customers for the experience and delay in their travel."
The Air Canada plane was reportedly being towed to the gate when the collision occurred. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has stated it is investigating the incident. The Delta flight carried 275 passengers and 15 crew members.
