Delivery Driver Escapes Small Dogs by Climbing Fence

A delivery driver was captured on video scrambling over a fence and onto a dustbin to escape two small dogs at a customer's home in Lichfield, Staffordshire. The incident occurred on September 5 when the man, clutching a Subway order, approached the house and rang the doorbell.

As the dogs appeared, the driver dropped the food and ran into a neighbor's yard, where he climbed onto a black dustbin. Footage shows the man with one foot on the bin and the other on the fence as the dogs barked around him. The dogs' owner, Lydia Starkey, 27, emerged from the property shortly after the driver's escape.

Starkey, who was in her back garden and unaware her brother had ordered a delivery, opened the gate, allowing one of the dogs to get out. Her mother was occupied with a newborn, and her partner was showering, leaving her to shout for assistance. The driver ultimately fled to a neighbor's front garden and used bins to get away.

After ensuring the driver was unharmed, Starkey stated that the family found the situation amusing. "These things happen with dogs getting out," she commented.

A video of the encounter has garnered over 860,000 views online. Social media users reacted with a mix of humor and empathy for the driver, with some noting that fear of dogs, regardless of size, is a valid concern.
