Deion Sanders Removes Players from Colorado Roster Following Blowout Loss

Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders announced Tuesday that several players have been removed from the team roster due to "conduct detrimental to the team." The decision follows the Buffaloes' significant 41-7 loss to Northwestern on Saturday.

Sanders indicated during his weekly press conference that the removals were not solely attributed to the on-field performance or player reactions immediately after the game. He expressed disappointment with players who he felt did not demonstrate appropriate seriousness following the defeat.

"It’s never one [thing]," Sanders stated. "I’m one of the most loving and giving and forgiving men you could ever meet, but when you start [having] conduct detrimental to the team, you don’t care about the team, you care about you, I have a problem with that. A year ago, I didn’t put my foot down in it enough. It lingered a little bit. Then, it imploded. I’m not doing that anymore."

The program released a statement acknowledging potential roster changes, clarifying that "Any potential roster changes have not been finalized" and that an updated roster would be issued later in the week.

In a separate incident, Colorado safety Ben Finneseth has apologized for comments he made that were captured on video before the game. Finneseth was heard criticizing the stadium atmosphere. "It was childish; it was a stupid thing that I said. It won’t happen again," Finneseth told reporters, according to The Athletic. "The way I handled it was horrible. I promise you guys it will not happen again and it’ll be much more mature moving forward."

The Buffaloes currently hold a 2-1 record to start the season and are scheduled to play their first Big 12 game against Baylor on Saturday.
