Declan Rice Nears New Arsenal Contract Agreement
Midfielder's new deal with Arsenal is in advanced stages of negotiation, sources told BBC Sport.
Declan Rice is reportedly close to agreeing to a new long-term contract with Arsenal, according to sources cited by BBC Sport. The England midfielder has become an integral part of the Gunners' squad since his transfer from West Ham for £105 million in July 2023.
Rice's current contract is set to expire at the end of next season. Talks regarding an extension have been ongoing and are now in an advanced stage, as previously reported by BBC Sport in March.
The 27-year-old has made over 150 starts for Arsenal and is also a key player for the England national team. Manager Thomas Tuchel recently described Rice as one of the premier midfielders in Europe.
Should the new agreement be finalized, Rice would receive a substantial pay increase. His current reported salary of £240,000 per week would place him on par with teammate Bukayo Saka, who is believed to earn approximately £350,000 per week.
This development follows the recent announcement of a new four-year contract for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta with the Premier League club.
