Dean Geyer, who first gained fame on Australian Idol, has joined the cast of the long-running American soap opera "General Hospital." He makes his debut as Dr. Tristan Roberts, a renowned heart surgeon whose arrival in the fictional Port Charles is expected to introduce new dramatic elements.

Geyer's character is described as having concealed connections to his past, and his presence immediately creates tension with Dr. Britt Westbourne, played by Kelly Thiebaud. The role marks a significant step in Geyer's acting career, which has included previous roles in the United States.

Career Progression

Geyer first rose to prominence in 2006 as a contestant on "Australian Idol," where he finished in third place. He later transitioned to acting, appearing on the Australian soap opera "Neighbours" and subsequently moved to the U.S. His American acting credits include roles in Steven Spielberg's "Terra Nova," the musical comedy series "Glee," where he played Brody Weston, and other shows such as "9-1-1," "Zoey 102," and "Shades of Blue."

"General Hospital," which premiered in 1963, is one of the longest-running scripted television dramas. The character of Tristan Roberts is also noted as a tribute to the late Australian actor Tristan Rogers, a prominent figure on the show known for his portrayal of Robert Scorpio.

Australian viewers will not be able to watch the debut on the network that previously broadcast "General Hospital," as its free-to-air broadcast agreement concluded in September 2025.
