Federal officials launched a drug enforcement operation Tuesday morning at a home in the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood of Los Angeles, detaining at least one individual. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) confirmed its personnel were involved in the operation on the 400 block of S. Wilton Place.
According to reports, at least 15 DEA agents, many in tactical gear and carrying what appeared to be military-style weaponry, were present at the multi-story residence. The scene included several vehicles, among them an armored truck.
Images from the scene showed a shirtless man in zip ties in the driveway and a woman seated in a chair. The trunks of two vehicles in the driveway were open, and the garage door was ajar. The DEA has stated that the investigation is ongoing and declined to provide further details at this time.
The home is situated in a middle-class area near the border of Mid-Wilshire and Koreatown. This operation follows a similar DEA and LAPD presence last month at MacArthur Park, an area known for drug-related issues.
