De Niro, Ruffalo Blast Trump at Election Protection Event
Actors urge action against voter suppression ahead of midterms.

Actors Robert De Niro and Mark Ruffalo voiced strong opposition to former President Donald Trump and his administration's policies at a "Hands Off Our Vote" election-protection campaign event in New York City on Sunday.
De Niro criticized Trump's administration, calling its members "very fucking stupid" and stating that their policies are unpopular. He accused the administration of attempting to suppress votes because they cannot garner sufficient support from the electorate. "Keep your fucking hands off our vote," De Niro declared, leading the crowd in a chant directed at Republicans in Congress, the Supreme Court, Trump's Department of Justice, and "masked and armed ICE thugs."
He urged attendees to "take back the House. Yes. Take back the Senate. Yes. Take back the power. Yes. Take back our country. Yes." He framed the upcoming midterms as a critical moment to remove Trump from power.
Ruffalo, referencing his role as the Hulk, called the midterms "one of the most consequential elections of our lifetimes." He urged the audience not to give up despite potential fatigue, emphasizing that fear is the opposition's primary weapon. "They want to keep us afraid. Their only weapon is our fear. That’s all they got against us is our fear," Ruffalo stated. He also implored voters to "get this dumbass, fool ass, tired ass, lame ass, duck ass out of office" and to "make him a lame duck."
