Dax Shepard Recalls Flirting With Kate Hudson While She Was Married
The actor shared on his podcast that he pursued Hudson shortly after meeting her when she was still married to Chris Robinson.
Dax Shepard admitted to flirting with A-list actress Kate Hudson while she was married to Chris Robinson, during a recent episode of his "Armchair Expert" podcast.
Shepard, 51, recounted the story while discussing his friendship with Erin and Sara Foster and how their connections began when he was dating Hudson. His co-host, Monica Padman, noted that Shepard was “obsessed” with Hudson before they officially became a couple.
Shepard explained that he met Hudson at a poker game at a friend’s house when she was still with Robinson. He recalled being struck by her beauty and thinking, “Oh my god I can't believe she's here.” Despite knowing she was married, Shepard said he “gave her everything I had in the reserve tank,” leaving the encounter believing he had made a strong impression.
Following Hudson’s separation from Robinson, Shepard reconnected with her at a dinner hosted by a mutual friend, Steve Brill. He recalled thinking, “Now she's single and I’m like, ‘Let’s see if we can f- - -ing muster up this magic and get it going again.’“ They began dating shortly after and were “together every single day” from that point on.
Shepard and Hudson briefly dated in 2007 and remained friendly after their breakup. In a 2019 appearance on "Armchair Expert," Hudson and Shepard discussed how a staged paparazzi encounter, where they walked out of Nobu holding hands, led to them spending more time together.
Shepard went on to begin dating actress Kristen Bell, whom he married in 2013. They have two daughters. Hudson later became engaged to Matthew Bellamy, with whom she has a son, and is now engaged to Danny Fujikawa, with whom she shares a daughter.
