Davina McCall has celebrated her marriage to hairdresser Michael Douglas for a second time in a lavish ceremony at their Kent home. The presenter, 58, initially married Douglas in December at Marylebone Town Hall in a private gathering with close friends and family. The recent celebration involved a larger group of guests.
Sources indicated that McCall and Douglas "pulled out all the stops" for the larger wedding, with McCall described as looking "stunning" in her bridal gown. Following the ceremony, the couple arrived at their reception in a tuk-tuk, an entrance that reportedly drew laughter and cheers from guests. Tipi tents were erected, and attendees danced into the early hours.
The couple's first wedding occurred shortly after McCall revealed her breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgery to remove a lump. Friends suggested that these health challenges prompted their decision to formalize their marriage. McCall underwent surgery for a benign brain tumor in 2024, followed by her breast cancer diagnosis.
McCall recently confirmed the completion of her course of preventative radiotherapy, describing the experience as emotional. The TV star has also spoken about stepping back from full-time work, viewing her health scares as a catalyst for significant life changes. She noted that while the brain tumor prompted a desire to reduce stress, the breast cancer diagnosis solidified her need to implement these changes.
Her first wedding was a more intimate affair, with approximately ten friends and relatives present. This small ceremony was chosen because of the couple's recent experiences and a feeling that it was the right time to formalize their union. The day after their initial wedding, they attended another friend's celebration as a newly married couple, with McCall displaying her wedding ring.
McCall publicly shared her breast cancer diagnosis last year, explaining that she detected it early after noticing a lump. She underwent a successful lumpectomy. She also shared that she had a significant personal breakthrough in the early 1990s related to her past addiction, and another breakthrough after her brain tumor diagnosis, which led her to realize the need to de-stress her life. The breast cancer diagnosis further reinforced this realization.
