Davina McCall Attends Pride of Britain Awards Amid Cardiovascular Disease Revelation

Davina McCall appeared at the Pride of Britain Awards on Monday night, marking her first red carpet appearance since revealing she has cardiovascular disease. The 59-year-old presenter, accompanied by her husband Michael Douglas, was seen in good spirits at the event held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

MCCall wore a nude corset gown with a glittering top and a long black skirt, accessorized with black stilettos and a nude clutch. Her husband sported a navy blazer.

The public appearance follows McCall's announcement on her podcast, 'Begin Again,' where she shared her diagnosis. She discussed her condition on a British Heart Foundation special episode, featuring heart attack survivor Louise McGill.

During the podcast, McCall revealed her history of high cholesterol, noting that it was previously deemed manageable due to high levels of "good" cholesterol. She questioned whether high cholesterol could serve as a significant warning sign. McGill recommended that women, particularly those going through menopause, should have their cholesterol checked.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a broad term encompassing conditions affecting the heart and blood vessels, often linked to the buildup of fatty deposits in arteries. According to the NHS, it is a leading cause of death and disability globally. Key risk factors include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, diabetes, inactivity, and obesity. The risk of developing CVD increases with age, particularly for individuals over 50, men, and those of South Asian, African, or Caribbean descent.

McCall first became aware of her high cholesterol approximately 20 years ago during her first pregnancy. She has continued to have regular checks and has managed her condition through a healthy diet and specific food swaps, including products designed to lower cholesterol.

This latest health revelation comes after McCall's previous experiences with serious illness. She was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor in 2024 and breast cancer in October 2025, receiving the all-clear in April. These health challenges have led her to re-evaluate her demanding work schedule. In January, she spoke about confronting her lifelong aversion to change and a tendency to overwork, stating that her significant personal growth has stemmed from difficult periods.

McCall has decided to reduce her work commitments, opting for a four-day week to prioritize self-care and achieve a better life balance. She emphasized the importance of personal well-being, noting, "I can't take care of anyone else if I'm not okay."
