David Zaslav Goes 'Off Grid' After Earning Over $600 Million in Warner Bros. Deal
The former Warner Bros. Discovery CEO is reportedly on vacation following the company's acquisition by Paramount, amid speculation about his next career move.
David Zaslav, the outgoing president and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, has reportedly gone "off the grid" for a vacation after securing more than $606 million from the recent Warner Bros.-Paramount merger. The $111 billion acquisition by Paramount was completed this week, with David Ellison now serving as CEO of Skydance.
An insider stated that Zaslav is "out of town now" and "definitely off the grid for a little while." He recently sent an email to friends and colleagues providing new contact information. The transition marks a significant shift following the closure of the Paramount deal.
Despite the substantial financial gain and the completion of the merger, speculation is circulating within the industry about Zaslav's future plans. Some observers suggest he might collaborate again with his former mentor, cable pioneer John Malone, with whom Zaslav reportedly maintains regular contact.
Malone has previously stated he advised Zaslav on significant decisions, including his $51.9 million pay package in 2024 and broadcast negotiations with the NBA. Zaslav relocated to Los Angeles to lead WBD and purchased the historic Woodland estate, formerly owned by Robert Evans, but insiders indicate he does not plan to sell the property.
While Zaslav is taking time off, the industry is abuzz with discussions about his next professional chapter. A party is scheduled this weekend to celebrate the merger, though Zaslav is not expected to attend.
