David Koch Recounts Ominous Police Warning About Bikie Gang Member Targeting His Home

Former Sunrise host David 'Kochie' Koch has shared a disturbing account of the time police warned him that a bikie gang member was persistently heading towards his family home.

Speaking on the Beretts' Best podcast, hosted by Mark Beretta and joined by Karl Stefanovic, Koch recounted how the alarming situation began after he inadvertently antagonized a bikie gang member through his work on Sunrise. Police informed him about their efforts to monitor the individual.

"I ended up getting a bikie off-side. So, had the police come in after a show and say, 'We keep intercepting this bikie coming towards your house,'" Koch said on the podcast. He described the difficulty of relaying this information to his wife, Lib.

The police further informed Koch that they had been conducting patrols around his house for the preceding week due to the bikie's persistent approach.

Koch recalled the unsettling revelation from the police regarding the bikie's potential fate: "They said, 'Don't worry. He's in a gang war, we don't expect him to last 12 months.'"

The threat eventually subsided when a news story Koch covered involved a shooting in Western Sydney. He received a text from the police confirming the bikie was involved in the incident, and he was subsequently safe.

The incident was particularly distressing as Koch's daughter, Georgie, was still living at home and attending university at the time. He expressed concern about her safety, especially when he had to leave for work early in the morning while she was still at the house.

During the podcast, Karl Stefanovic also shared that he has faced his own frightening encounters with members of the public, including multiple death threats over the years, which were logged and handled by authorities.

Stefanovic also discussed his controversial interview with far-right commentator Tommy Robinson on his podcast, admitting he had pondered whether he could have handled the interview differently. Despite the backlash, Stefanovic stated he would still have Robinson on his show, believing the discussion points regarding rape gangs and the commentator's influence on public opinion are worthy of exploration.
