David Beckham attends basketball game in China, discusses Netflix ventures
The former England footballer was seen courtside at a Dallas Mavericks game in Macao, while his brand partner confirmed new Netflix content is in development.
David Beckham was seen attending a basketball game in Macao, China, on Sunday, where he was accompanied by the 7ft 6in former basketball player Yao Ming. The two sat courtside at The Venetian Arena to watch the Dallas Mavericks play the Houston Rockets.
Beckham, 51, who is 5ft 11in, was photographed alongside Ming, 46, during the game. He was dressed in a denim jacket, black trousers, and white trainers, while Ming opted for a navy blazer, black polo top, grey trousers, and white trainers.
Before the game, Beckham posed with Dallas Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont and later with Houston Rockets player Tari Eason and shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanović.
This appearance comes as David Beckham's business ventures continue to grow, partly fueled by the success of his 2023 Netflix documentary, "Beckham." Jamie Salter, a brand partner for Beckham, spoke at the Leaders Conference at Stamford Bridge, confirming that more content is in the works with Netflix.
'Following the Beckham documentary on Netflix, he is making more episodes with the channel. David Beckham and Netflix are making another show, which is really cool,' Salter stated. He added that the previous series 'has driven his business through the roof,' and that Victoria Beckham's business has also seen significant growth following her own docuseries.
The four-part documentary about David Beckham, which launched in October 2023, reportedly drew 3.8 million viewers in its first week and covered significant personal and career milestones. Victoria Beckham's three-part biographical documentary was released on October 9, 2025, and was created by the same team behind her husband's series.
Reports indicate that David Beckham's sports, fashion, and media business experienced record pre-tax profits, with DRJB Holdings reporting nearly £50 million in profit in 2025, a 46% increase from the previous year, and sales rising from £72.2 million to £84 million.
In personal news, David Beckham has reportedly been attempting to improve his relationship with his son Brooklyn. Beckham recently 'liked' an Instagram post featuring Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz attending the MESSIKA show in Paris, an event that coincided with Victoria Beckham's fashion show there. This gesture comes after a reported estrangement of nearly two years, following Brooklyn's statement in January denouncing family events as 'performative' and declaring he was no longer part of 'Brand Beckham'.
