David Beckham shared a heartwarming interaction with a five-year-old boy named Huddy, who has Down syndrome, prior to Inter Miami's match against Cincinnati at Miami Freedom Park on Wednesday.
In a video shared by Huddy's mother, influencer Melanie Droubay, Beckham greeted the boy with a hug in the locker room. Huddy, visibly excited, reciprocated with a high five. Beckham then held Huddy's hand, giving him a tour of the locker room, where the young fan had the opportunity to sit in Lionel Messi's chair.
"I have no words. Just tears in my eyes," Droubay wrote in her post. "Watching Huddy meet Mr. David in person was everything I could have dreamed of and more. He was a little shy at first but quickly warmed up with a high five and a hug and after that, they were best buddies. So grateful for David Beckham and his team for making this all possible."
Following the game, which ended in a draw, Beckham shared photos of his time with Huddy on Instagram. Both were pictured wearing Inter Miami jerseys with the number 23, a nod to Beckham's iconic Real Madrid number. Huddy also had the chance to walk onto the pitch with Messi before the game, with Beckham giving the boy a thumbs-up.
Beckham expressed his gratitude online, writing, "Tonight was a night to remember for us all in Miami, we had a very special guest come and visit us with the biggest smile and the warmest heart. Thank you to Huddy's Mom, dad & brothers for sharing these special moments with us x Mr David was very happy."
