Former child star Daveigh Chase, best known for her role as the voice of Lilo in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" and as Samara in "The Ring," died in a Los Angeles hospital on June 16. She was 35.

According to a Los Angeles Medical Examiner report, Chase's primary cause of death was acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Chronic polysubstance use was also cited as a contributing factor. Her manner of death was ruled natural.

Chase's boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, stated that she had been diagnosed with meningitis and experienced several "serious" blood infections that led to sepsis prior to her death.

The actress had a public struggle with drug addiction and homelessness.

Chase began her acting career at a young age, with early roles including appearances on "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and "ER." Her breakthrough came with the voice role of Lilo Pelekai in the 2002 animated film "Lilo & Stitch." She also starred as a young Ada in the 2003 film "Cold Mountain" and as the terrifying Samara Morgan in the 2002 horror film "The Ring."
