Eva Benefield has detailed the devastating impact of her father's relationship with Ashley Benefield, whom she has described as "Satan's playmate." Ashley Benefield was ultimately convicted in a murder case that Eva's family refers to as the "Black Swan killer" incident.

According to Eva, her father, Doug Benefield, was "seduced" by Ashley, whom he married six months before the events that led to her conviction. Eva expressed her deep distrust of Ashley, stating that she underestimated her true malevolence. Eva wrote a book detailing her experiences living through the so-called "Black Swan murder."

Months after their marriage, Eva's father informed her that she would be having a stepsister. Eva's own mother had passed away approximately 15 months prior to her father's marriage to Ashley. Eva shared that her father and Ashley were in the process of starting a ballet company, which came at a significant financial cost.

Ashley Benefield, known as the "Black Swan killer," was later on trial for murder. The confrontation involved an incident where Benefield shot Doug Benefield, claiming it was an act of self-defense. She was subsequently sentenced to 20 years in prison for the crime. Eva stated that her half-sister would be 26 years old by the time her mother is released from prison, expressing a hope to get to know her.
