Daughter Gives Birth Without Knowing She Was Pregnant, Mother Recounts Shock

An 18-year-old woman, India, was reportedly on the verge of starting university when she unexpectedly gave birth. According to her mother, Elizabeth Miles, neither she nor her daughter were aware of the pregnancy until the moment of delivery. Miles recounted the experience with "total disbelief, not joy," after receiving a call that her daughter was in agonizing pain and at an A&E unit.

India had reportedly experienced continuous periods throughout her pregnancy and exhibited no visible signs, such as a bump, leading to the surprise birth. Even medical professionals, including an A&E nurse, had not identified the pregnancy. The baby girl, named Aria, is now two and a half years old.

Miles described her fifties as "nothing like I pictured," but stated that her love for her granddaughter Aria made the challenging circumstances bearable. "The way she came into my life was far from ideal, but I wouldn’t change her for the world," Miles wrote.

India has since been diagnosed with PTSD and struggles with severe insomnia. She is now pursuing a degree in physiotherapy. Aria's father, Aiden, shares custody of their daughter and is reportedly involved in her life.
