Darts Hopefuls Flock to Auditions for Netflix Show Featuring Luke Littler

Stratford, London – More than 3,000 darts enthusiasts lined up for hours at the LMA at Here East for auditions for "Beat Luke Littler," a new Netflix show offering a significant cash prize to anyone who can defeat the young darts sensation in a leg of 501.

The show, scheduled to air live on Netflix on October 30, invites amateur players to test their skills against Littler. The grand prize for any contestant who successfully beats the reigning world champion is £501,000.

Gary Lineker is set to host the program, with Richard Osman providing expert analysis. The audition process involves three stages. The first stage requires contestants to complete a leg of darts in 24 throws or fewer. Those who succeed move on to a production team interview, followed by a final stage judged by a panel including 16-time world champion Phil Taylor.

Among the hopefuls was Fallon Sherrock, a notable figure in women's darts. "I did it in 18," Sherrock told Daily Mail Sport. "My scoring wasn't very good, but I took out a 157." Sherrock expressed her motivation to use the opportunity to promote the women's game, stating, "I don't need the money, but I have always said I would like more opportunities to promote the women's game, and this is the perfect opportunity to do it."

Phil Taylor, serving as a judge, noted the pressure on contestants. "It's been different. I've never done anything like this before. It's similar to the X-Factor, but you have to be a bit nicer with this one. I'm not Simon Cowell," he said, comparing the process to a talent show. "It's about encouraging the players, especially the youngsters coming through. It's very nerve-wracking for them. But we are looking for confidence, ability, and they have to be dedicated."

Taylor also offered strategic advice for potential winners: "If you can go out in 12 darts, and you want to beat Luke Littler in a game of 501, he has to go out in nine, or you're half a million richer. That's the secret."

Littler himself was not present at the auditions, as he is taking time off before upcoming tournaments. The massive turnout for the auditions reflects the growing popularity of darts, particularly since Littler's emergence on the scene.
