An unearthed 911 call has revealed that "Storage Wars" star Darrell Sheets was allegedly experiencing intense cyberbullying in the months leading up to his death by suicide in April. In the recording, released by the Lake Havasu Police Department, Sheets told authorities that he "had somebody threatening" him for approximately two months.
Sheets reported receiving a ransom text that gave him 24 hours to comply or face consequences. "Tonight, they just sent me a demand ransom text stating that I had 24 hours to take care of it or they’re going to burn my shop down and they’re going to get my girlfriend in Orange County," he stated on the call.
During the call, Sheets indicated he knew the identity and location of the individual allegedly harassing him. "I tried to bear this for the last few months, but it’s really bad right now," he told the operator.
Sheets' girlfriend also spoke with the 911 operator, stating that Sheets had been unable to sleep due to the ongoing harassment. She reported hearing a single gunshot after Sheets went to his office, and subsequently discovered him deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his death as a suicide in May.
Following Sheets' death, "Storage Wars" co-star Rene Nezhoda claimed Sheets was being “really, really tormented” by someone and subjected to cyberbullying. Sergeant Kyle Ridgway of the Lake Havasu Police Department confirmed that the cyberbullying accusations are part of the active investigation.
Sheets’ suicide note also referenced "Facebook bullying" that he could no longer endure.
