A daredevil's decision to walk across the suspension cables of the Brooklyn Bridge on Wednesday evening led to a significant police response and traffic disruptions during the rush hour commute.
Video footage captured the individual traversing the steel cables from a high pillar of the iconic bridge shortly before 7:40 p.m. The New York Police Department's Emergency Service Unit was engaged in efforts to communicate with the person.
As a result of the ongoing incident, all eastbound lanes of the bridge, which lead toward Brooklyn, were closed to traffic. The situation remained active as of Wednesday night.
