Daredevil Couple Climbed Empire State Building, Negotiating Plea Deal
Angelina Nikolau and Ivan Kuznetsov, known for viral stunts, are in talks with prosecutors following their July climb.
Daredevil duo Angelina Nikolau, 33, and Ivan Kuznetsov, 32, who scaled the Empire State Building in July for a widely shared marriage proposal, are nearing a potential plea deal with Manhattan prosecutors. The couple appeared in Manhattan court Tuesday for a status conference, their attorney confirmed to Fox News Digital.
Initially, Nikolau and Kuznetsov faced charges including reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, burglary, and misdemeanor climbing of a structure. They were released under court supervision, but a judge ruled Tuesday that they no longer need to undergo monthly check-ins with an officer.
Their attorney, Noam Biale, stated that the legal team is "getting close" to a "resolution" with the district attorney's office. Biale described his clients as "daring and pathbreaking artists whose performances have captivated people all over the world," adding that they are "beloved by New Yorkers."
Biale expressed confidence and hope for a resolution before the end of the year. The next court appearance for Nikolau and Kuznetsov is scheduled for November 12.
Manhattan's District Attorney's Office has been contacted for comment.
