Danny Dyer Won't Compete on Strictly Come Dancing Due to Training Demands, Daughter Reveals

Danny Dyer has consistently turned down offers to participate in the BBC's popular dance competition, Strictly Come Dancing, with his daughter Dani Dyer explaining that the demanding training schedule is the primary reason for his refusal. Despite past suggestions that he could provide significant entertainment on the show, Dyer has expressed a lack of desire to engage in the glitzy performances.

Dani Dyer revealed in an interview with the Daily Mail that her father stated he "couldn’t do the training" and "couldn’t do the hours." She relayed his sentiment, "I just couldn’t be doing all those hours a day baby."

However, Dani's professional dance partner, Nikita Kuzmin, believes Dyer would excel on the show, envisioning him delivering "the biggest entertainment you’ve ever seen." Kuzmin suggested that Dyer's persona would be well-suited to dances like the Paso Doble or Tango. Dani agreed that her father would be "so entertaining" and acknowledged he "can move a little bit."

Dyer has previously acknowledged receiving annual invitations to join Strictly, but has maintained a firm stance against participating, stating, "I’ve got no desire to be mincing around in sequins."

While he shies away from the dance floor, Dyer has been a visible presence in the audience. He recently attended Strictly's Icons Week alongside fellow actor Ray Winstone, watching as their daughters competed. Dani and Kuzmin performed a rumba, receiving 25 points, while Winstone's daughter Jaime and her partner achieved a higher score with their paso doble.

The appearance of the two actors together in the audience followed a lighthearted exchange where Winstone joked about the potential for a "fight in the audience" between himself and Dyer while their daughters performed. Winstone also commented affectionately on Dani, noting their long-standing connection and calling her a "lovely kid."

Dani and Kuzmin were speaking to the press at the Pride of Britain Awards. Both pairs had survived the weekend's public vote, with Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey being eliminated from the competition.
