An application for bail is to be made on behalf of Daniel Kinahan, his solicitor confirmed in the Special Criminal Court on Monday. The application will be lodged through the High Court in Dublin.

Kinahan is charged with directing the activities of a criminal organisation between October 18, 2015, and April 6, 2017. His defense legal team is also seeking an expert to examine digital evidence and requesting information on other international investigations from which Kinahan has been acquitted.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) stated that the single charge against Kinahan involves a "complex factual matrix." The DPP barrister noted that an 189-page statement of facts underpinned Kinahan's extradition from Dubai earlier this year.

Kinahan was arrested in the United Arab Emirates in April and extradited to Ireland on August 9, arriving on the Irish government's jet. This marks his third appearance before the Special Criminal Court and his second in person. He appeared in court dressed in a grey suit, black shirt, and black glasses.

He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in person again on December 21, at which time the book of evidence is expected to be ready.
