Daniel Boulud's Brasserie Boulud Finally Opens Its Doors Near Lincoln Center

Brasserie Boulud, the latest venture from acclaimed chef Daniel Boulud, has officially opened its doors across from Lincoln Center at 1900 Broadway. The 225-seat restaurant is a successor to Boulud's former establishments, Bar Boulud and Boulud Sud, which closed in June 2025. The opening, which experienced delays, was necessary for a complete construction of the space rather than a renovation.

"This was a creation, not a renovation," Boulud stated. The extensive construction process involved shrinking and relocating the adjacent grab-and-go Epicerie and navigating a complex permit process with various city agencies. The completed restaurant now revitalizes the dining area on the restaurant row facing the Lincoln Center plaza, which also includes Cafe Fiorello and The Smith.

The menu, curated by Boulud and executive chef Christina D’Angelo, features a traditional French brasserie selection with a focus on classic dishes prepared with meticulous attention to flavor. Offerings include escargots persillade, coq au vin, and a variety of meats and seafood. Charcuterie chef Arthur Dehaine contributes pâté and mousse, including a standout boudin blanc and Moroccan-style Merguez sausage.

Notable dishes highlighted are a lobster soufflé ($35) served with a creamy lobster mousse and sauce l’Americaine, and duck breast a l’orange ($37) with a complex blend of orange, honey, oregano, and pink peppercorn. Pastry chef Katalina Diaz's tarte tatin, featuring Honeycrisp apples, maple syrup, and Calvados, is recommended for dessert.

Despite the current economic climate, Brasserie Boulud's pricing is described as remarkably reasonable, with a "burger classique" priced at $25. The restaurant's clientele includes a mix of local patrons, cultural enthusiasts, and long-time fans of Boulud's cuisine. Adjacent to the main dining area is Bar Viv, a 40-seat lounge named in honor of Vivian Milstein.

The space, designed by the Rockwell Group, features a long oval bar, leather booths, banquettes, and chandeliers. The restaurant is currently closed on Mondays, with last orders taken until 11 p.m. on weeknights and 11:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Lunch service is expected to begin in November, with outdoor seating planned for spring. Boulud indicated that the menu may evolve based on sales, potentially including a prix-fixe option.
