Former race car driver Danica Patrick drew criticism from motorsport fans for her commentary during the recent Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C. The event, which was broadcast on Fox, featured Patrick as an analyst.

Patrick, who has previously competed in IndyCar and NASCAR, was part of the Fox Sports broadcast team for the street race. Her commentary, however, included remarks praising President Donald Trump for his role in facilitating the event. "Between the vision of (FOX CEO) Eric Shanks and (Penske Corporation President) Bud Denker, with the help of, of course, Secretary [of Transportation Sean] Duffy and President Donald Trump with that executive order, I think it really embodies what it is to live in America, land of the free, and anything is possible," Patrick stated. She added, "That this race was gone from concept to reality as quickly as it was, and as well as it's been done, I think that is the perfect embodiment and celebration of 250 years of this country."

Fans voiced their displeasure on social media platforms, with many expressing disappointment in Patrick's on-air performance and her political commentary. Criticisms ranged from her perceived lack of racing insight to her praise for President Trump. Some users directly targeted her past commentary in other racing series. "To watch Danica Patrick and the whole Fox crew verbally felate Trump ,is nauseating," wrote one user on X.

Others questioned the selection of commentators for the broadcast. "Of course @IndyCarOnFOX brings out the small guns (Chris Myers and Danica Patrick) today," commented one observer. Another stated, "Oh boy, that idiot Danica Patrick and the others are going to make this unwatchable."
