Dancing With The Stars Premiere Disrupted by Voting System Outage
Technical difficulties caused voting to shut down for the remainder of the season 35 premiere episode.
The season 35 premiere of Dancing With The Stars was marred by technical issues Tuesday night, as the show's online voting system crashed just minutes into the live broadcast.
Co-host Julianne Hough announced the problem after the second dance of the evening, informing viewers that online voting was temporarily unavailable. Fans attempting to cast their votes on ABC's website encountered an "Error 503 Too Many Variants" message.
By 8:45 p.m. ET, co-host Alfonso Ribeiro announced that the online voting system would be shut down entirely for the remainder of the night. "For tonight, and tonight only, we are throwing out online votes," he stated.
While text voting remained an option for viewers, the unexpected system failure meant that a portion of the audience was unable to participate in the voting process for the premiere episode.
